What is your wedding photography style?

I like to approach wedding photography with a minimally art directed photojournalistic style. You could say it's a combination of 90% documentary photos and 10% posed photos. We will have a few posed portraits, and the family group photos, but aside from that, everything else will flow naturally and I will shoot discreetly, capturing important and tender moments from your wedding day. In terms of editing and post production, I tend to keep images in a natural, timeless style, without trendy filters or gimmicky special effects. I want your photos to feel as fresh and relevant ten years from now as they do today. You can see more of my style in the Featured Weddings section.

Will we need a second photographer?

It depends on the size of your wedding and if you have a very specific "must have" shot list. If your wedding has a lot of guests (say, over 150) and it takes place in multiple locations, I would highly recommend having an additional photographer to ensure that all aspects of the wedding are captured. For example, while I take photos of the bride and bridesmaids getting ready at her hotel room, my second shooter can take photos of the groom and groomsmen getting ready in a different location. Or, while I take family formals, my second shooter can take portraits of your guests during cocktail hour. Or, during ceremony, while I focus on the couple and immediate family, the second photographer can take wide angle ambiance shots of the venue or from a vantage point that would require a bit of hiking.

What if we are camera shy?

You're not alone. Many of the couples that I photograph tell me they feel awkward in front of the camera, or don't know how to pose, or sometimes that they don't like photos of themselves or being photographed. However, they all end up loving their wedding photos and are glad they decided to have their wedding documented by a professional. One of my priorities is to make you feel comfortable and not intimidated by my presence. The online video consultation we do helps break the ice and build a rapport between us. Doing an engagement session before your wedding also helps to make you feel confident and relaxed after you see how great you look in those photos. :) I am often goofy and playful and awkward myself during shoots, so rest assured we'll be on the same level. I will also listen to your points of view and work with you to only photograph you in flattering poses and on your "good side." Ultimately, you can hide any photos you don't like of yourself from your online gallery, before you share it with your wedding guests.

How do we book you?

We will first start with a "get to know each other" 1 hour online consultation, which can be done either over phone or video chat. I prefer video chat, so we can see each other as if we would in real life, and get a sense of how our personalities match. When you decide to book me, you will receive a contract (to be filled and signed digitally) and an invoice for a non-refundable retainer fee to save the date. You will receive an invoice for the balance, due one week before your wedding date.

What is your cancellation policy?

My full cancellation policy can be found in the terms of service on my contract. Generally, a certain percentage will be non-refundable, calculated based on how close to the shoot day the event is cancelled.

What payment methods do you accept?

All payment methods are accepted, including Venmo, PayPal, checks, ACH, and credit card. Payment terms and payment information will be included in your contract, as well as on your invoices.

How soon will we get our photos?

I aim to deliver the full final edited wedding galleries within 4-6 weeks from wedding date. I will send you a few sneak peek images the week after the wedding, so you can have something for that big social media announcement post.

What is your editing and retouching process?

During a wedding shoot I can take anywhere between 2,000 and 4,000 photos. The images are then double backed up on multiple hard drives. I cull down the images to about 500-700 final deliverables. I remove images where eyes are closed, the image is out of focus, not properly exposed, or the composition is not great. The remaining images are then color and exposure corrected, and treated to have my signature look and style that you hired me for. Light retouching is applied where needed: removing blemishes, stains, perhaps a piece of trash on the street behind you or a power line in the background. No major retouching is included, such as slimming down arms or waist lines, removing wrinkles or hair, or removing objects or people from the frame. However, if you'd like several images more heavily retouched, please let me know and I will send you a quote for the additional work. When ready, the final images are exported as high resolution JPEGs and delivered to you. See below question for specifics about the image delivery process.

How are my images delivered?

When your images are ready, you will receive a link to a password-protected online gallery, hosted on my site, from which you can view and download your photos. The digital files you receive are high resolution edited JPGs. I do not deliver RAW camera files, so please do not ask for those. You can access your gallery for up to two years from shoot date, after which it will be taken down. You will receive an automated reminder before the removal date, in case you want to download the photos one more time.

How do I download my photos?

On your image gallery, locate the download icon (it looks like a downward arrow). This button allows you to download your entire gallery as a zip folder. You can specify whether you want to download web resolution files, high resolution files, or both. You can also download individual images by hovering your mouse over the image and clicking on the download icon.

Can we print our photos?

Yes! For ease of use, you can print any photos from your wedding directly from your online gallery. My website is connected to a high quality professional printing lab, so you can print your photos in various sizes, on different paper types, as well as make cards. You can also download your photos and have them printed elsewhere.

Engagements FAQ

Before you read on...

A lot of the questions coming from Engagement clients are similar to those coming from Wedding clients. I suggest you scroll through the Wedding FAQ section above to see if your question is already answered there, as it will not be repeated here.

How many outfits and locations are included?

In my regular Engagement package we can include up to two different outfits and two locations that are close to each other. For anything more beyond that, I can provide you with a custom quote for additional time.

Do you have any discounts / special offers if we book both an engagement and a wedding with you?

Well yes, thanks for asking! If you book both an engagement and a wedding with me, you will receive a $400 discount from your wedding package. There is no obligation to book both in advance, you can do the engagement first and if you like the photos and working with me, then you can book the wedding later and will receive the discount then. This offer is valid only for the same couple, it cannot be combined between two different couples. The offer is also valid if you are booking an engagement + wedding package at the same time as a present for a family member.
